I wanted to run but I couldn't because it would attract Mama's attention, and Mama could pop up anywhere at anytime. This may sound tedious but it is actually rather suspenseful and helps add to the horror factor. The gameplay mostly consists of you fulfilling Tattletail's needs and avoiding Mama. As I walked around the house I couldn't help but be worried Mama was going to appear in the dark, even when she wasn't actively a threat. While her jumpscare wasn't all that scary, her lines and mere presence are threatening and help build suspense throughout the game. I think Mama is the right kind of disturbing. The other notable character is Mama who pursues you throughout the game. I think it's great character design on the creator's part. I know at least, personally, as a child certain dolls and things would creep me out in the dark, even if I thought they looked perfectly normal in the day. Tattletail just has one of those flexible faces and I think it fits the game really well. Not to mention, most of the time he's smiling at the corner of your screen, a smile that can be cute when the tension is down and creepy when you're in danger. Yet, at the same time, some of the lines he says are a bit unsettling and there's also the fact he'll start being noisy if you don't fulfill his needs and possibly get you killed. It was hard not to like Tattletail because he's so cute and energetic. I enjoyed the fact that the character Tattletail was both enduring, creepy, and a bit annoying. DLC, a sequel, something…Ĭons/Complaints aside I really enjoyed playing this game and definitely think it’s worth the money and time!! I look forward to what else Waygetter puts out!! I just feel like there needs to be /more/. I feel like if these details were added this game would blow up and become really popular to be honest. When I get everything I’ll come back and confirm/deny this statement.) Why do we have the ability to do that if she never comes out? Is our mom not home? Is she hurt? Or Is it just another excuse to make noise? I feel like if there were hints or symbols that answered these questions, the game would feel much more cohesive (That being said I have not gotten all the achievements, so there may be some information I’m missing. We have the ability to knock on our mother’s door, but she never answers. We see the dead body on the commercial, but it is never expanded upon. That being said another problem I felt this game had was lack of bits and pieces of lore sprinkled in.The same ending and message could have been conveyed in much better ways- But instead, we get the same thing we’ve gotten all through out the game, which makes us feel cheated and disappointed. For me personally, at this point, the game is at its peak, and then it ends in the most unsatisfying way, and all feels wasted. I will try to stay as vague as possible with this but I will still set it as a spoiler in case people want to stay totally in the dark: The big turning point in the game was an extreme adrenaline rush and honestly came at a surprise.I feel like a variety of different animations could keep things fresh. This could be me nit-picking, but the surprise and shock wore off quickly because it was the same 10 second clip everytime. There is only one animation for the jump scares.(It could be my computer, but I guess it’s still something to take note if you have a lower end computer.) I had issue with extreme mouse sensitivity and had to crank my setting down to 1 in order for things to be more play-able.While I understand it’s a fairly short game, I still wish saving and pausing could be an option. Also- If you’re in the middle of a challenge and need to quit, when you return it’ll start you over at the beginning of that challenge. While the game sometimes lets you restart from certain points after death, it still bothers me that I’d just have to let myself die over and over while I went to the bathroom and not just pause the game.
